OpenAI Dots vs Meta Muse vs Grok Bot: 3 Always-On AI Agents Compared

Robauto Team · Published · Last updated

OpenAI Dots, Meta Muse, and Grok Bot all give an AI agent its own cloud computer that keeps working after you leave. We compare pricing, availability, integrations, safety approvals, and what each means for brands and agentic commerce, with live Robauto data.

Short version: In one month, three companies shipped the same big idea: an AI agent with its own computer that keeps working after you walk away. OpenAI announced Dots at DevDay on September 29, 2026. Meta launched Muse on September 8. Grok Bot gives each account a persistent cloud computer that Bots share. This guide compares what each one does, who can use it, what it costs, and what it means for brands getting ready for agentic commerce.

Why "always-on" agents matter

A chatbot answers and stops. An always-on agent takes a job, like "keep this launch on track," and keeps going between conversations. It opens a browser, uses connected apps, and checks in when it needs a decision. All three products work this way, and all three do the work on a cloud computer, not only on your phone or laptop. That matters for brands too: these agents read, compare, and sometimes buy on the open web.

OpenAI Dots

What it is. OpenAI calls Dots "always-on agents built to handle everything," powered by GPT-6 Astra. Each dot has its own cloud computer and browser and can keep working while your devices are off (ChatGPT Learn). CNBC reports Dots can connect to more than 4,000 apps and learn from feedback over time (CNBC).

Where you talk to it. ChatGPT on web, mobile, and desktop, plus Slack and Microsoft Teams. You can already call your dot from ChatGPT. OpenAI says texting is "coming next" (OpenAI).

Availability. Rolling out gradually. Pro 100, Pro 200, and Pro 500 users over 18 get it outside the EEA, UK, and Switzerland. Business Premium and Enterprise are rolling out worldwide. For Enterprise, dots are off until an admin turns them on (ChatGPT Learn).

Pricing. Dots are not sold separately. ChatGPT Pro starts at $100/month and lists "Dot, your always-on agent" as a feature (ChatGPT pricing). MacRumors reports eligible users get one dot at no extra cost (MacRumors). OpenAI says Business Premium seats include dots (ChatGPT Business), but we couldn't confirm the seat price on OpenAI's page.

Safety. You can set Custom Rules to allow an action, require approval, or block it. Actions that could affect your accounts or share information go through Auto-review, and some steps, like changing your password, stay with you (OpenAI). You can also "Take over" the dot's browser at any time.

Meta Muse

What it is. Meta launched Muse on September 8, 2026, as a personal AI agent powered by Muse Spark. It runs on Muse Secure VM, a dedicated cloud computer with its own browser, and it "keeps working after people close the app" (Meta).

Where you talk to it. The Muse app on iOS and Android, muse.ai, and WhatsApp. Support for AI glasses is "coming soon" (Meta). At Connect, Meta also showed Muse Charm, a keychain-sized device. Bloomberg, via The Verge, reports it will have a built-in 5G modem and can interact with nearby Charms. Meta is aiming to ship "in time for the holidays in December," and the device price hasn't been published (The Verge; our Charm explainer).

Pricing. Free with a usage limit. The Power plan is $20/month (500M Muse tokens per week), and the Maximum plan is $100/month (3B per week) (Meta Help Center). It's rolling out in the US, and subscribers must be 18 or older.

Safety. A separate "Sentinel" agent must approve anything Muse sends to the internet. Muse checks with you before sensitive actions like sending an email or making a purchase, keeps a full audit trail, and never sees your passwords or payment methods (Meta).

Grok Bot

What it is. Grok Bot gives you named "Bots" that work on a persistent cloud computer with a browser, filesystem, and terminal. All of your Bots share that computer, so files and logins carry over between them. Work keeps going when your laptop is closed (Cursor Docs). Bots can save a workflow as a skill and run it as a routine, either on a schedule or after a supported event (Cursor Docs: Work).

Where you talk to it. Desktop apps and an iPhone app. Cursor's docs list macOS, Windows, and Linux desktops (Cursor Docs). It connects to plugins and MCP servers like Gmail, Google Calendar, and Slack (Grok Bot 101).

Pricing. There is no standalone Grok Bot subscription. It's included with paid Cursor plans (Cursor Pro is listed from $20/month) and Cursor Teams ($40/seat/month), or through a linked SuperGrok plan (from $30/month). Weekly usage is included, and on-demand usage is available (x.ai/bot; Plans and billing).

Safety. An independent Auto Review model checks risky actions before they run. When a Bot needs approval, you can choose Allow once, Always allow, or Deny. Bots hand you the computer for passwords, 2FA, and payment checks (Cursor Docs: Security).

What this means for brands and agentic commerce

All three agents now shop or act for people on the open web. Meta's Muse can check out with Link by Stripe using a one-time-use card (Meta). OpenAI's own Dots page shows a dot placing a DoorDash order after the user approves (OpenAI). Grok Bot signs in to websites the way you do and hands payment steps back to you (Cursor Docs).

Robauto's live network data shows this shift is already happening. As of September 30, 22.14% of page views across the network over the last 90 days came from AI agents and bots. Meta AI is the largest engine at 32.3% of that traffic, and Grok Bot accounts for 9.3% (Robauto AI Search Data). Most sites aren't ready yet. The median score in Robauto's Agent Readiness Index is 20 out of 100 (Agent Readiness Index). Today's Agent Scans scored meta.com at 32 and x.ai at 28. openai.com blocked our read-only scanner, so it has no score.

Three moves to make this week

1) Publish agent-readable facts: products, prices, policies, and contacts, plus an llms.txt file. 2) Don't block the agents your customers use. 3) Add an MCP or agent card so assistants have a clean path to your site. Using Grok Bot? Our Grok Bot + Robauto MCP tutorial shows how to run Agent Scan from chat.

Bottom line

Dots fits people who already work in ChatGPT, Slack, and Teams. Muse is Meta's consumer play, with a free tier, WhatsApp, and a pocket device on the way. Grok Bot suits builders who want a persistent cloud computer, MCP connectors, and routines. Whichever one your customers pick, it will visit your website. Make sure it can understand you.
