OpenAI Dots Are Always On. The Open Web Still Scores a Median 20.

DevDay shipped always-on Dots with cloud computers and 4,000+ apps. Live Agent Scans: openai.com blocked, meta.com and x.ai at 28 with commerce 0/5, network readiness median still 20.
OpenAI just shipped always-on personal agents. On the public web those agents will still meet a readiness median of 20 — and the company domains that host ChatGPT block a read-only Agent Scan. That is the constructive lesson for brands this morning: cute avatars and cloud computers do not invent MCP cards, ACP catalogs, or checkout discovery on your site.
What shipped at DevDay (September 29, 2026)
At OpenAI’s DevDay, the company launched Dots — personal, always-on agents powered by GPT-6 Astra. Coverage from TechCrunch and The Verge describes the product the same way:
- Agents that keep working in the background toward user goals, not only inside a single chat turn
- Each Dot gets its own cloud computer and a browser, plus plugins into more than 4,000 apps
- Users can talk to a Dot in ChatGPT (web, desktop, mobile), with Slack and Microsoft Teams connections, and SMS coming later
- Rollout starts for ChatGPT Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise (with admin approval) in eligible markets
- Branding is deliberately bubbly — a clear Muse competitor on the personal-agent axis
OpenAI’s own framing: “remarkably capable, always-on agents built to handle everything.” For brands, the question is not whether the avatar is cute. It is whether your public domain publishes machine-readable surfaces those agents can discover, call, and eventually buy from.
Live Agent Scans, September 30, 2026
We ran fresh Robauto Agent Scans the morning after DevDay. Scores are 0–100 across 25 read-only checks (Signal Basics, Technical Groundwork, Agent Integration, Agentic Commerce):
| Domain | Score | Signal | Tech | Integration | Commerce | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| openai.com | blocked (403 Cloudflare) | — | — | — | — | Agent Scan |
| chatgpt.com | blocked (403 Cloudflare) | — | — | — | — | Agent Scan |
| meta.com | 28 | 3 / 6 | 0 / 4 | 1 / 10 | 0 / 5 | Agent Scan |
| x.ai | 28 | 5 / 6 | 1 / 4 | 1 / 10 | 0 / 5 | Agent Scan |
| robauto.ai | 98 | 6 / 6 | 4 / 4 | 9 / 10 | 5 / 5 | Agent Scan |
| metareva.com | 100 | 6 / 6 | 4 / 4 | 10 / 10 | 5 / 5 | Agent Scan |
Blocking is a legitimate ops choice — and it is also a decision about whether independent agents can score or cite your public pages. Meta.com and x.ai answer the scanner but still sit at 28 with Agentic Commerce 0 of 5: no ACP, UCP, x402, AP2, or MPP discovery on those marketing domains.
Network pulse: agents are busy; referrals are not
From live Robauto AI Search Data (updated hourly, cookie-free pixel):
| Metric | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Total page views (90d) | 1,311,503 | AI Search Data |
| AI-classified views (90d) | 290,699 | AI Search Data |
| AI traffic share | 22.17% | AI Search Data |
| ai_referral visits | 0 (0%) | AI Search Data |
| llm_crawler share of bot traffic | 54% (156,848 visits) | AI Search Data |
| Agent Readiness Index | median 20 / max 75 (79 scored, 20 blocked of 99 attempted) | Agent Readiness Index |
Only llm_crawler + ai_referral count as AI search in Robauto’s taxonomy. Classic search_bot and headless traffic never inflate that share. Always-on personal agents raise the stakes for the missing half: measured AI referrals across the network are still zero.

What brands should ship before Dots show up
Personal agents with browsers will hit your HTML whether or not you planned for them. The ceiling sites in today’s table publish the full stack: llms.txt, Link headers, API catalog, OpenAPI, A2A agent card, MCP server card, Content Signals, and commerce discovery (ACP / UCP / x402 / AP2 / MPP). That is how a Dot — or Muse, or any cloud-computer agent — goes from scraping pages to calling products.
